Officials of La Crosse’s Riverfest today revealed the Commodore and First Mate who will reign over this year’s Fourth of July week festivities.  Dennis and Kari Vogel of La Crosse were selected by past Commodores of Riverfest from a pool of dozens of area men and women.

Dennis Vogel is President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens State Bank.  He and Kari have three children (Jack, Stella, and Reed).  He is a 1997 graduate of UW-La Crosse, where he also obtained his master’s in business administration in 2002.

He and Kari will officially reign over this year’s Riverfest, June 30 to July 4, in Riverside Park in La Crosse.  The fest will feature lots of family fun, and musical acts including Sawyer Brown, and Boogie and the Yo Yos, the Remainders, and the Executives.  They will also represent Riverfest at other community activities, including several area parades and ceremonies.

The Vogels are active in the community.  Dennis has served many organizations, including the Salvation Army, The Great Rivers United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the La Crosse Symphony.  He has been President of Tri-Quest Charities, Inc., and The La Crosse Children’s Museum.  He has also been recognized as a top fundraiser for various events over the years to include the JDRF walk, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, and Dancing with the La Crosse Stars.  In 2011 he was recognized by the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals (AFP) as the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser.  Dennis is passionate about coaching basketball and baseball for the Boys and Girls Clubs and is kicking off a new event this summer he created to raise funds for the Clubs.  The whole family enjoys volunteering for the Hunger Task Force as well as ringing bells each year for the Salvation Army.

The Vogel’s will assume their titles at the Commodore Dinner on June 7th at the Radisson Hotel.
